Yep. Its because the damn core gamer buys all these crappy in bedroom dim-light solo games that some publishers think this is all that is important. Whereas Nintendo knows there are families who enjoy gaming entertainment... not just loner 18-35 yr old boys.
Personally, I think one of the biggest reasons PC gaming lost out to consoles was solely due to local multi. I mean NES/SNES had two game ports, then N64 made 4 the standard. There's a reason for that and I don't think the rise of online play has negated the need for local multi.
