Killzone isnt comprable to those 2 franchises. Sonys equivelent would be having Uncharted at launch. 

I take it back, I forgot MS is releasing Forza 5.  I thought MS wasn't releasing any of their strong 1st party games which was why I stated my earlier post.

Imo, I think Sony picked KZ, not only because it was one of their good 1st party games (we know its not their best), but to also get ahead start into the FPS market before MS.
