What does Nintendo/Smart Devices need to do to take out Sony from the handheld gaming platform

You have to wonder after the Vita sales will Sony make another handheld console? This will be a big loss for us gamers (especially us JRPG fans!) but you just have to think what the Vita has done to an already weaken company as a whole.
