How do you feel about the fast food strike in the USA?

yep, as a marine, i make about $1800/year. which averges out to about $8.50/hour. (or really less since my work days start around 6-7am and go till 4pm.

and as for your first post. yes fast food workers have to make a living. but the fast food job is not a job to make a living off of, it never intented to be, never was, and nver will be. its for part time workers, highschool/college age kids. temporary stop-gap job. it is not meant to be a career and have someone be able to live off it, though for a single person, it is possible.

Curious (beyond the context of debate in this thread), what do you pay for out of pocket for living expenses as a Marine? Only thing i could think of would be clothes (to an extent) and a cell-phone and such like that?

yes. full disclosure. since im still student status (i havent earned my aircrew wings yet, still need to go to sere and mech school). i still live on base, so i live in the barracks (which is paid for), and if i eat at the chow hall on base, i get 3 meals a day (no seconds though   ). i also get medical. 

according to my leave and earning statement my total monotary componsation, including both direct and indirect compensation (meaning my actually salary+ benefits). is about $36,000.

but yes essentially my only bills right now are phone, internet (no TV), and transportation.

so as you were alluding to, its not too bad of a gig, if your single and living on base.
