It's complicated is how I feel.
If anyone has ownership stake in a restaurant chain the following is generally how it works.
You open a restaurant for "X Burgers", you pay corporate a set amount annually to use their likeness and benefit from their promotions. You also are expected via inspections or audits to be held to certain standards.
You pay the employees, so any change in pay affects your ability to turn a profit.
My point? Long before a McDonald's would feel any effect from this the franchisees (the owners of each physical restaurant) would be hurt big time and could even close down stores (this would be when McDonald's would finally take notice).
If people feel strongly that restaurant employees at a McDonald's or similar should earn more then be okay with paying more for food. It astounds me that a $1 hamburger exists even with buying in bulk.
I should note I hardly ever eat at these kind of establishments. Prefer to shop and cook myself.
