Xbox One DRM: Microsoft’s Penello doesn’t see it returning

But the big pull to do it at all was because ALL content was going to be treated as digital and therefor far more profitable to them. Otherwise those sharing policies are just a drain on their bottom line.

However, obviously the great amount of negative feedback proved that those policies would of in fact created a scenario where Xbone would have failed massively and therefore caused a major drain on their bottom line.

Would you explain to me why it would be cheaper for them if everything is all digital if people are still buying disk?  I'm not follow, more convienant to the consumer for the most part I understand, for like instant switching.  But in general, if people are still buying disk, I don't understand why it would be any less than it is now for Microsoft.

Without the disk I get it, but with it?  I'm not following.

Because its very likely to not have even been on a disc. If you read between the lines, it seemed like the original plan was to not really have data on discs, thus removing the bluray royalty fees. I felt like their descriptions all hinted to retail only having cases with some sort of download code or CDs at best with just IDs to download the game.
