most major f2p have become a lot more fair. If you look at TF2, blacklight or Tribes, spending loads of money will still give you a slight advantage, but it's the equivalent to the advantage high ranking players have over low ranking players in traditional(?) mp games, or maybe a little bit more, but far from pay to win thankfully. Well, this applies to western f2p; asian f2p is still very much pay to win from what i've heard, but even if a game initially targets eastern markets and then comes to the west I'm assuming adjustments are made to balance gameplay.
