They always are, every console sells very very well at launch, 'cos that when the early adopters (fans) buy it. Pre-orders are huge, people get carried away, and headlines are made. After that short burst, it usually tapers off, fast (not counting the original Wii). Then again, that's common knowledge, and anyone seriously convinced PS4/X1 sales will not go way downhill fast as soon as we enter 2014 might be somewhat delusional and/or blinded by fandom. Pre-orders mean less than nothing. WiiU sold gangbusters at launch. There is absolutely zero reason to believe either PS4/X1 will see robust sales after launch, unless you're honestly convinced they're the next Wii.
