On a side note, questions like this make me remember how comforting it is that absolutely nowhere in the Bible is Hell ever described as a place of eternal torment.

It certainly is not a second rate Heaven.

Every popular vision of hell is entirely fabricated. God is loving - and he loves all his creations. The Bible only says to hate WHAT is bad, not WHO is bad. Even we humans consider torture to be cruel and unusual punishment.... and yet we think a loving God would sentence people to eternal torment? Is hell fun, no. It's death. For those who believe in the Bible, it's incredibly clear on what that involves. (Ecc 9:5-10; Ezekiel 18:4) For the wicked death is the end... not a horrific beginning of eternal torment.
