I think that Sony has done a good job of addressing the issues that the PS3 suffered from its early years, namely its relatively late launch (compared to Microsoft), its price, and the early difficulty that many developers encountered with the cell (one of the famous critics was Gabe Newell). This time around, Sony announced before Microsoft (both the PS4's reveal, as well as the actual release date), priced the PS4 much more competitively, and have continually stressed that the console is easy to develop for (utilizing small, independent developers to exemplify how easy it is to create content for the system).

With that said, it's far too early to call a victor because I wouldn't count Nintendo or Microsoft out, not by a long shot.
