No. Anyone who thinks that a company who's last three consoles where complete financial failures is a sure fire bet to win based on preorder numbers that have never mattered and the internet forum hype of the smallest percent of people who actually BUY consoles is "DELUSIONAL." Children and COD-heads buy the largest percentage of consoles and that democraphic will see Titanfall vs Killzone and remember that all their live friends will have an Xbox and buy an XBO. Those people don't even know that Killzone, Uncharted, and InFAmous exist, lmao and I won't even get into how indie games don't remotely matter to anyone You have to realize that the sole reason the PS4's preorders are so high and the XBO will launch porely is because of a shit PR team. That's it. It has nothing to do with the PS4 being a better product. If E3 came around this year and the XBO revealed with the policies they have now, preorders would be much more even, and if the console was $400 instead of $500, the XBO would without a doubt be ahead of the PS4 in preorders. Or do we not remember how shit the PS4 reveal was. The only reason the PS4 looks good is because it was "not as bad as the XBO." That's comepletely different now. You think the XBO being "the official console of the NFL" means nothing!? You're a joke. Microsoft was going for a competely different audience than the PS4 and the XBO's targeted audience is larger by five landslides. PS4 targets the nerdy hardcore minority while the XBO targets the casual "dudebro" majority. The people who actually care about free Fifa at launch. The people who actually WANT to say "Xbox. ON." and manage their Fantasy Football leagues. You think that isn't huge!? Every successful Sony console had a new and expensive input device build into it. PS1-CD Player. PS2=DVD Player. PSP=Portable DVD player. Or better yet, do you actually believe that Sony's prior successes are NOT due majorly to these inputs!? You're probably the one who beleives that the PS2's smash success had nothing to do with the built in DVD player that saw crazy expensive anywhere else. You don't think the Vita being in the same pesition that the PS4 is in now isn't telling? The DS lead in it's generation. The Wii lead in it's generation. The PSP sold a distant second. The PS3 sold a bombinging second. The 3DS launched well. The Wii U launched well. The 3DS's sale plumeted after launch. The Wii U's sales plumeted after launch. The Vita was revealed to launch a year later. The PS4 was revealed to launch a year later. The Vita was hyped to kill the 3DS. The PS4 is hyped to kill the Wii U and the XBO. The Vita was targeted soley towards hardcore gamers. The PS4 is targeted solely towards hardcore gamers. The Vita had absolutely no new multimedia draw for the first time on a completely new Sony handheld. The PS4 has absolutely no new multimedia draw for the first time on a completely new Sony home console. The PSP's software sales were dwarfed by the competition. The PS3's software sales were dwarfed by the competition. The PSP's exclusives generally sold porely. The PS3's exclusives generally sold porely. The Vita had a great hardware launch. The PS4 will have a great hardware launch. You can probably imagine how the rest goes and will go. The only difference is that the PS4 has more competition because of the XBO. I can't even call you a fanboy. It's more of complete ignorance and blind eyes. Sony is the ONLY one of the three consoles that is in financial jeopardy and has been for 8 years! These are NUMBERS. And you actually think that a bunch of easily hyped nerds on internet forums will be able to accurately tell you otherwise just because Sony hired a better PR team than Microsoft!? This is the same audience that actually believe that PC gaming actually has a shot at overtaking console gaming we're talking about here. Come off it. |
Wow. Just wow. I was going to respond to all of this....and then I realized, wow.
Here are the facts that matter, the PS4 is a stronger piece of hardware in a market that keeps encroaching closer and closer to the PC gaming market (Where specs are about 90% of the battle). The PS4 is cheaper (Please don't disregard this as most buyers will put this as their number one priority). The Xbox brand is garbage outside the 50 states and actually has never even led a generation in sales within it's "largest market". The pre-order numbers appear to be heavily in favor of the PS4 in every locality across the globe.
Your garbage is irrelevant and one of the biggest fanboy-esque blitherings with no substance I've read here in a long time. As was the case with this previous generation, Microsoft simply cannot compete with Sony worldwide. They simply don't have the audience. Predicting these sales is easy because quite honestly, it's a one sided race. The only battleground will be North America, where again (Pricing will trump all).
I don't think Xbox One will do 'bad' in North America, I just think it will get blown out of the water in almost every other location across the world. The further this sales gap becomes, the more people will continue to purchase the console that all of their friends have. The more friends that purchase consoles that friends have the higher the sales gap becomes, the more easily justifiable it is for Sony to obtain exclusive game titles and the easier it is for people to want to jump in and purchase the said console.
We saw this play out already this past generation. The only key difference was that Sony priced itself out of a competition and released a year late. Once the Xbox had momentum it was hard for Sony to regain it or compensate for the train that had run off the tracks. Eventually, the sheer amount of quality software, lowering price and familiarity allowed Sony to pick up a lot of steam and surpass the 360.
Sony will win this generation and while I won't go as far as to saying that they will do so in a PS2 type fashion(Most people besides gamers have no reason to upgrade at this point). I believe they will win in more of a PS1/PS2 hybrid fashion.
