Emotions, yes. Facts, no. Nobody writes an essay for a console simply because he has facts. 3DS was sucking until it got a price cut and some games, Vita has the same problem, PSP had the same problem. To say the Xbox One would've outsold the PS4 goes against the fact that not only has the Xbox 360 had the price advantage, launched first, etc. It still came in 3rd. PS4 comes from the Sony consoles, they have always done well. Vita is of no indication for its success. PSP was not a failure, it was only poor in comparision to the DS. The best selling handheld ever. That's a fair comparision. To say the PS4 reveal was shit is among the most ridiculous things I've ever read. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Sony has plenty of successful IPs, you'd have to be crazy not to think they are successful. Uncharted is practically on the same level as Gears of War, Gran Turismo is slightly less than Halo, but that's not even including other big sellers, LBP, Killzone, God of War, etc. Based on the fact that 1.5 billion games were sold on the PS2, I'd assume that people were interested in the system for games also. You haven't even given any numbers, you're giving your opinion. |
I wrote that much because that's how much fact there was. I like the Playstation brand. My second favorite video game company is Sony. Doesn't stop fact from being fact. The Vita doesn't have the same problem the 3DS was sucking because it had no games. The Vita, contrary to popular beleif, does. It has tons. And most importantly, it already has some of Sony's and the gaming industries biggest franchises. The supposed "killer apps." Uncharted. Little Big Planet. Assasin's Creed. Call of Duty. Rayman. Persona. Need for Speed. If Uncharted can't even hit one million on the thing, what makes you think for a minute second that Killzone or Borderlands 2 will fair even remotely better? If Uncharted and COD can't even 1m, what do you think the eventual Gran Turismo will do? 1.5 million? That will save the Vita? Come one dude.
The PSP wasn't a failure. The PSP Go was. The Vita is a complete indecator if it's success. They follow the same marketing strategy! The reveal was shit. Most people were underwhelmed with it only consider it "good" in a hindsight comparison of the XBO's reveal which was completely atrocious. I never said no one was interested in games who buys Sony products. A large chunk of people who buy Playstation didn't care about games. The rest did. You'd also have to remember the near monopoly the PS2 had on 3rd part games, a monopoly Sony will never be able to get again. Successful IPs? I have no numbers? Here:
--------------------------------------------------------- Sales of completely new Nintendo IP's since 2005 that have hit over 5m: EDIT: Just for fun, Microsoft IPs that sold over 5m since the 360: Kinect Adventures! - 20m Halo 3 - 11m Halo: Reach - 9m Halo 4 - 8m Gears of War 2 - 6m Halo 3: ODST - 6m Gears of War 3 - 5m Gears of War - 5m Kinact Sports - 5m Forza Motorsport 3 - 5m Fable 3 - 5m ------------------------ The industry is about more than games. It's about money. Sony had that going into the PS2. It doesn't now and the PS2's old fanbase has literally split in two to create the PS3/360 fanbase. Get off the hype train before it crashes starting February 2014.
