You'd think most people would, but in Japan, likely the shame of knowing what was being done to you would lead you to resign, but in America it'd be something like "I'm so incompetent that the only thing they can do with me is pay me all day to watch TV. SWEET!" Reminds me of that character Wally from Dilbert who is trying to get fired so he can get severance.

I suppose if you really wanted to leave but also wanted to get severance, you could start being as obnoxious as possible without veering into realms that would void your benefits (like sexual harassment, theft or property damage, etc).
