Last month, indie developer Renegade Kid confirmed that their critically acclaimed platformer Mutant Mudds would be making its way to both PS3 and PS Vita. Fans have been enjoying this nostalgic title on iOS, PC, and 3DS since last year, and more recently on Wii U. Now, Renegade Kid director and co-founder Jools Watsham has hinted that more PS Vita titles may follow.

Platformer lovers should note that a sequel to Mutant Mudds is planned for release next year on 3DS. But suppose you're not a big fan of platformers; what's in it for you?

Well, I have some news for you. Renegade Kid also developed three first-person shooters for the Nintendo DS -- Dementium: The Ward, Dementium II, and Moon. A spiritual successor to the survival horror Dementium games, titled Cult County, is currently in development for 3DS. Cult County will be an episodic title, with six episodes currently planned, and the first one aiming for an early 2014 release date. Moon is less survival horror, more sci-fi. Jools mentioned recently that Renegade Kid will reacquire the rights to the Moon IP from the game's original publisher at the end of this year, and confirmed that the studio would immediately begin working on a new iteration of the title on 3DS.

It seems to me that both of these games would be right at home on the Vita with its twin-stick design (Cult County already supports dual analog controls, as seen in this early-build demo utilizing the 3DS Circle Pad Pro), and that many Vita owners might be interested in good indie games, good first-person shooters, and particularly any combination of the two. And personally, I'd love to see more multiplatform releases across the two 8th-gen handheld consoles, especially from indies.

Of course, there's a catch. I don't mean to lead you on, but none of these titles sans Mutant Mudds are confirmed as yet for Vita. So what's this hint that more Vita support is possible?

I hate it when developers/publishers do this. Really. Indie or not, this game has already been available for over a year on 3DS, and nearing a year on two much bigger platforms, iOS and PC (though it's drowning in Greenlight and never made it to Steam). Thankfully, I doubt his expectations are as high as those of your average AAA publisher, and I'm confident that the PS Vita userbase will take an interest in Mudds. Mudds fans seem to be particularly keen on double- and triple-dipping, anyway.

So, Vita owners, do you have any interest in this studio and their titles? I know the Vita has a huge catalogue of indie games coming, but I haven't seen any first-person shooters among them.
