I especially agree with the bolded part. There are a lot of people who aren't really big fans of games that brush off anything t hat looks different than what they play the majority of the time, or maybe the graphics look a little bit stupid, etc. My best friend is one of these people. He'll automatically get it into his head that the game isn't any good before playing it, easily noticeable by him saying it looks like crap, etc. When he plays it, he really doesn't even give the game a chance. He'll put maybe 15 minutes, 30 minutes at most into it,and then just quit playing saying it he doesn't like it. I have another friend that thinks just about everything he plays is a good game. Complete opposite.
I personally talk a lot of crap about games I'm not interested in, but when I start playing them, I keep an open mind about them. As a Castlevania fan and Devil May Cry fan, I talked so much crap about the reboots to both games, but after playing them, Lords of Shadow is my favorite PS3 game and DmC Devil May Cry is up there with DMC3.
I don't get mad but it is disappointing though when you think about how many great franchises are ruined just to try and appeal to the mass market. That, or just completely ignored altogether.
