Did you set to AT or Manual transmission? In Manual transmission you need to use clutch if you enable it on the wheel... Manual is the best way to play to gain mileseconds. And clutch didn't work with controllers... just wheels.
A video to showing clutch enabled and disabled with the same wheel... it is more configuration of your wheel (GT5 can works with clutch enabled or disabled).
