Finished the demo up on PSN EU.

Thegame looks amazing, both from technical perspective and artistically. To match the stunning visuals its got an awesome soundtrack and great voice acting to boot! One issue I found though was that, often the VO tracks cut if you moved through the level at a faster pace then instructed, its minor but stil an annoyance.

The gameplay its self is great fun. The demo is only brief, but you get a good feel of the platforming mechanics and I found controlling katuro enjoyable, the animations are great and his movement has a nice pace to it. Controller the cat (ala mario galaxy's star) and Katuro at the same time however, became quite unwiedly. You could of course do one at a time, but them its slows down the gameplay alot. Controlling the cat works alot like the star in mario galaxy, you him investigate objects and find gold pieces, so if I had to play with the dual shock3 I would largely ignore that mechanic just to keep the platforming moving along.

To me the real way to play this game is with the Move controllers, controlling the two becomes a joy and collecting the stars is just as attractive as it was in Mario Galaxy. Problem is the control set up here is horrible. Jumping is deligated to the x button on the navigator pad, which makes no sense at all since the analoge stick is also on that pad. there appeared to be no way to change this in the menues (do correct me if I'm wrong) and so the game was unplayable for me. I tried using the x button on the main Move controller but nothing happened.

For anyone who doesn't have move, this is the navigator control.

Its such a simple change that it must be corrected by the games launch, unless of course I've just missed the part where the you can change the control scheme.

Otherwise the game is everybit as charming as it looks. The demo was the beginning of the game so it was very stop and start as controls were explained and the story was introduced, but hopefully those interruptions aren't as frequent as you progress further.

Jumping aside the point and click mechanic works so well it makes me wonder whether Rayman Origins will support wii mote and move support.

What was everyone elses thoughts?
