In this case I think the best thing is to simply look at the Gamecube. The Gamecube had a fair number of games that were considered system sellers and a fair amount of very good games. Just from that alone you would think the GC would have sold well right? Well, we all know how the Gamecube did.

The PS3 needs more than FFXIII (in late 2008, a good ways away) to get started running. It needs a better PR before anything just to fix its image, a solid library, and finally a price cut.

Sadly, none of those are likely to happen anytime soon. Sony has been incredibly arrogant and just refuses to change. They aren't even going to get their system seller games until 2008 and that's shady plus they need more than just those to build a decent library for that price. Lastly, the price cut isn't going to happen until they have a decent library.

In short, the price cut isn't going to happen until very late 2008 (which isn't going to happen since it will sell during the holiday season) or mid 2009. By that time Sony will only have its first party developers, cross platform games, and the few random third party games. At that point they will be this gens Gamecube. And don't think for a second that calling the PS3 the new Gamecube is bad. The Gamecube had some incredibly games and the people that had it loved it.

This is the Sony forum, not the forum for Wii owners to come in and bash the PS3. Last warning before I start short bans for people.

I know I'm new to these forums but I hope this isn't really how the forums are moderated.  Right now I think the 360 is on top od the world but I believe the Wii is going to overcome the beginning of 2008 so people probably would consider me a Wii fanboy (though I don't consider me one ).  The fact I would get threatened by temporary banned because I like to read all the forums and comment when people post silly stuff like this is just silly.  It's not my fault you don't like your precious PS3 being poked at because someone made a silly topic.  As others have said, the Famitsu Most Wanted list really doesn't mean anything and people are calling the OP out on that.

And one more thing while I'm thinking about it: why did someone list the Final Fantasy MMO?  Are they talking about Final Fantasy XI?  I love that game and I would still play it if I had the time but why would you list it?  If you're not talking about FFXI, why would you list some other one thinking it would do well enough to matter?  It would do decently and bring over/back a lot of the FFXI players, but it wouldn't be a major driving force on the MMO front.
