I use reviews as sources of information. There might be something that the reviewer thinks is bad and for me its not something that important or might be something i actually like. The reviewers final opinion most often than not is totally ignored by me. I have enough experience on this to be able to tell if a game is worth it or not just by watching it and having information about it.
Reviewers sometimes surprise me positively but their grades go higher if your game is a sandbox with a mature story and great graphics. Thats what they consider a good game. Me, i have a broader spectrum than that.

The idea of  "faith" to decide wether to buy a game is never on the equation as far as im concerned. Its fully logical and taste/enjoyment. It is very rare i make a purchase of a game i end up not liking.
