Not very much. Because at the end of the day, all "pro game reviews" are, are the personal opinions, colored by their own personal tastes and preferences, of other gamers. Their opinions on gaming are no more legitimate than any other gamer, they are merely given more weight and credence because they're published in a magazine or on a website.
Reviews can be useful to a point, but people who base their entire decision on trying a game or not, just on someone else's review? Not very smart. On the one hand, true, you don't want to waste your money on a shitty game. But on the other hand, you can't judge whether or not you like a game if you've never actually tried it for yourself. You can see something that isn't really your style, for example I'm not really into FPS or GTA type games. But, you cannot just go off of someone else's opinions alone, is what I'm saying.
