That it couldn't have been the normal course of events? That Microsoft was like, "OMG this is on Jezebel, GO, GO, GO," and released some kind of Special OPs team?

It sounds like her complaint was in queue and had to wait its turn, just like all the other tons of complaints that cycle through the system. I highly doubt Customer Support has agents keeping an eye on themarysue instead of working through the never-ending backlog. The people who can ban an account are a very small group compared to the number of support representatives.
