Nintendo digital sales have been a huge success, starting off with Fire Emblem: Awakening, the digital version sold more then the retail version at launch. Then when Animal Crossing: New Leaf was release, that's where eShop lift off, managing to sale over 500k on the first week in the US. As the Wii U tend to have a week sale per quarter, it eShop sales says other wise. Nintendo manage to gain impressive sells of the Wii U eShop thanks to game like Earthbound.

If Nintendo is able to make a deal with Activision and have Cod: Ghost be release digitally, making it ten dollars cheaper, but still having that next gen engine running on the Wii U same with the PS4 and Xbone, it'll be a better value and make the Wii U look a bit more attractive. Plus, (though its not the best) free online on the Wii U version.

Ummmm if games are selling this well digitially why dosent Nintendo invest more into online? Had no idea nintendo titles sold so well digitially

He's only telling you half the story.  When FE released in most places the physical version was extremely hard to find, hell even EB Games was only selling digital codes for the game, that is the only reason the digital version sold more than the physical, if there was enough physical versions then it would have sold way more.  Animal Crossing is also just one of those games that fits better as a digital download vs a physical for the average person.
