Recently, developers have done on record, stating that next gen AAA games won't cost much more than current gen AAA games. As tech improves, costs stay relative. We WILL get to human like AI and photo realism. Maybe not this gen, maybe not next, but it'll happen. Until then, progress won't stop.

and when the time comes it will still be irrelevant for gaming. a tecnological acomplishment? sure. but unrelated to gaming.

It is very related to video games, imagine playing The Elder Scrolls XV with perfect realism, from a graphics and ai standpoint. Imagine instead of having dialogue choices, you can have a completely unscripted conversation.
Perfect human AI with perfect visuals is the goal to some extent, because it is at that point that you can't improve any more.

Neither perfect human AI nor photorealistic visuals are the be all end all of gaming. Human AI is not intrinsically more fun than non human AI, and photorealism is not intrinsically superior to stylized graphics. If photorealism was the be all end all, then there would be no reason for animated films.

Sounds like someone didn't play Rage.

I did not play Rage. Maybe it was a great game, and maybe having good AI was good for that experience. I'm just saying that when all developers think there is only one path to making a great game, that's a problem for the whole industry.
