I'd love for the Vita to do as well as the 3DS. But lets face it, they are 2 completely different types of gaming systems. One is a graphical powerhouse with TONS of potential, but comes from a line of problem issued handheld systems such as the last generation of PSPs. The PSP UMD didn't work out soo well, and for a while games were stagnant. The Vita on the other hand is an amazing system, but most people who want a handheld have stuck by the one handheld that started them all and has always done well. Nintendo's Gameboy up to todays 3DS has been what people feel safe with and always go to.
