I think this article is a little premature. However, if the PS3's recent surge in popularity (in NA in particular) is substained, especially once GTAIV launches, then the 360 is at least going to have a real perception problem.
It will be perceived as the losing console, even if it's still ahead by millions technically. That's never a selling point. Not to consumers, not to industry and not to investors. So MS will have to fight hard to at least keep the race too close to call.
Even though it's guaranteed to sell better than xbox, going from 2nd last generation to 3rd (ie: last!) this generation shows fundimental weakness unless it's a damn close 3rd. But heck, GC was only about 2m behind xbox (is actually ahead now) when 360 launched and it was considered a flop (profitability notwithstanding) by all.
Last year MS had the best game line-up. No one disputes that. This year... It's good, really good, but not as great as last year and PS3's will be just as good if not better. So how does MS maintain it's momentum is the question we're all wanting to see the answer too.
