360 and 3DS combo is working fine. I own every current system aside from Wii U though, but I spend the vast majority of my time on just 360 and 3DS.
3DS: Arguably one of the greatest portables of all time. The amount of quality games it is getting on a consistent basis is just amazing; not to mention it is well priced, sturdy, supported well on the digital front with a bunch of classic games, and backwards compatible which means the incredibly vast library of DS games can be used on it as well.
360: Best online infrastructure outside of PC. Introduced achievements as well which I really enjoy. In general, don't care for 360 exclusives or PS3 exclusives so that is a non-issue really. The only one I even bother with is Halo ... which is kind of a perk of the system with it being exclusive.
