I used rechargable controllers on my PS3 and my 360. I had to purchase it extra on my 360 though. The PS3's lifespan before being charged is just fine and it doesnt take very long to charge and play while its plugged in. No difficulty on either console, just that one comes stock without making you pay extra.

You keep missing the point.

I like having the ability to swap out my batteries to continue playing wireless instead of having to use a short wire to charge my controller (a la PS3).

For many devices, I like having a rechargable battery in the device. However, for a game controller I like having the option of swapping the battery out so I can avoid using a wire.

This is my stance, you might as well give up because we'll just keep going in circles.

How far away from your TV do you play?

Come on now. The cord that comes with the PS3 controller is ridiculously short. Who plays 3 feet away from a 32+ inches screen?
