The main reason mostly tech savvy people have heard of it so far is simply because it's still more than a year before it's even released. Why care about something you won't buy anytime soon anyway?
The tech savvy people will run for as soon as it's released, for they realize the potential. Gamers will run for it when they try it out on a good game and realize how much it improves the gaming experience. Mainstream men will run for it when they realize the potential for virtual sex. Mainstream women will... well, who cares. ;)
If the Oculus Rift doesn't become a huge success then it's not because the hardware isn't interesting enough, but because the hardware is so interesting that other companies are coming out with very similar but even better solutions. |
we'll see but i highly doubt it.... it would be any major tech brand why not, but in the current state of things I doubt it will reach critical mass at launch... maybe in a couple years with version 2 or 3 of the hradware or like you said if someone elses from a big comp picks up the idea...
but like I said we'll see... not even sure they'll be able to produce it in high quantity to become massive....
