I think the level creator in LBP2 & LBPV is a lot more open than people think. Just go and look at the range of levels you can make on it. There's first person shooters; Mario clones; racing games; tower defence; text adventures; most of the things you can think up are possible.
I'm not adamantly against LBP3(D) but I just think they'd have to be really careful with it. Taking a level creator like LBP has into another dimension could turn out absolutely horribly. Equally, I suppose, it could turn out to be something special.
