They seem to be picking up a lot of steam, John Carmack is currently the CTO of Oculus Rift. Whether that means anything I don't know. I wouldn't be surprised if OR made it to PS4/Xbox One. Shuhei Yoshida (President of Sony Worldwide Studios) made a tweet about it awhile ago. Not a tweet about PS4 having OR features, but he was asked about it and he didn't deny it and he was then offered a demo of the device. They might be able to get some serious backing. I think the casuals would love it also, just given the chance to try it though. |
yeah but Carmack is as mainstream than linus torval.... I'd bet half of the console gamers have no clue who the guy is..... I personally hope it will make it to PS4 and XB1 and I will be also buying one anyway.... but unless it is tied with a major brand, or have a massive ad campaign with other application than just hardcore gaming and it is shown and proven to the public (makes an appearence on oprha, Ellen degeneres, jay leno or any late night show) it won't be a major success at first....
a partnership with PC oem would be the best... i think...
