And 12GB is enough to any mandatory install game or play 99% of the downloaded games... you just have the mess to install and uninstall every time you got low space.

So when you say install a HDD you mean opening up the PS3 and taking out the current one and putting in a new one?  You can't use an actual external HDD?  Because I know you can on the 360.
