What are you talking about man, he has always been a great, revolutionary singer. I'll start from the beginning of his solo career. Off the wall sold 20 million copies. Thriller sold 104 million copies and during this era he achieved the most stardom ever achieved by a solo artist in the history of music. Bad sold 32 million copies and the Bad tour was the biggest tour in terms of audience for that time. It also produced 5 number one singles which is a record. Thriller and Bad were the highest selling albums of the 80's. going into the 90's- Dangerous sold 30 million copies and the dangerous tour was the second biggest tour at that time after bad. HIStory sold 36 million copies and the HISttory tour is curently the biggest tour ever in terms of number of people attended (i went in singapore). History and dangerous were the highest selling albums of the 90's. Invincible sold 15 million copies in 2001. Every time he releases a compalition album it automatically sells a few millions. Curently thriller 25 is no. 1 on the world charts. And he is releasing a new album at the end of this year. Also a few records- he has won more awards than any other artist in the history of music, he is the best selling artist ever (some sources give this to the beatles or elvis presely), he won the most number of grammy at once -8- I can go on with the records he has achieved but that will be boring.
"In the mid-1980s, Time Magazine called Jackson the biggest solo star since Elvis Presley. [44] He has had a notable impact on music and culture throughout the world while also tearing down racial barriers and paving the way for modern pop music and the concept of the modern pop star in his own country.[9] The recording rights organization that represents Jackson, BMI, calls him a person with "planetary influence"[9]. He has also been described as an "extremely important figure in the history of popular culture" and a "genius"[153]. Jackson holds the record as the most awarded recording artist in history.[citation needed] Throughout his four-decade career, he has received numerous honors and awards, including the World Music Award's Best-Selling Pop Male Artist of the Millennium, the American Music Award's Artist of the Century Award,[154] and the Bambi's Pop Artist of the Millennium Award.[155] He is a double-inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (once as a member of The Jackson 5 in 1997 and as a solo artist in 2001)[62] and an inductee of the Songwriters Hall of Fame.[156] He is characterized as "an unstoppable juggernaut, possessed of all the tools to dominate the charts seemingly at will: an instantly identifiable voice, eye-popping dance moves, stunning musical versatility, and loads of sheer star power".[6] In 1990, Vanity Fair magazine named him the "Most Popular Artist in the History of Show Business".[157] Jackson's work has influenced and spawned a whole generation of a wide variety of artists, including Mariah Carey,[158] Usher,[159] Britney Spears,[158] Justin Timberlake,[160] Omarion,[161] Ne-Yo,[162] and Chris Brown,[163] among others."
So plz think before you talk. We are talking about one of the greatest artists of all time whether you like it or not (right up there with the presely's and the beatles)
