Why are JRPG's still being built the way they are? ( long read)

You are free to list any console JRPG's that are not constrained by these limitation's and I will gladly look into them like Dragon's Dogma.

Xenoblade comes to mind first.  Large map, lots of sidequests, day night/weather cycle, etc.
