Yes, but that was seriously screwing from EA, since they didn't have any real motive for not releasing the Trilogy as they did with the Xbox and Ps3 version (On which the Ps3 finally got Mass Effect 1).

Also the thing with the L4D games is they really have no story.  So not playing the first and second games will not be that big a deal and I don't think Valve will care if this is the first L4D that PS gamers play because it really is one of those games that you can just pick up and play without playing any of the previous games.
