I always feel that console fanboyism doesn't come from standard fanboyism. Not the kind that means I pick at every Marvel film made or kind where fangirls moan at the fact they pick an older gentleman to play The Doctor.
Console fanboyism is about defending your choice when someone else bashes it because you spent time and money on it. It would be the same as if someone came along and sat in your car and first thing they did was comment on how crap it is, how their car is better.
It's a justification of you spending your money on an expensive item. Especially if you can only afford one.
