I didn't hate the X1's original policies because they were different. I hated them because they were draconian and inept. Microsoft clearly designed the X1's policies via committee, and I'm willing to wager there wasn't a single person there who played video games or had less than a six figure salary in that committee, either.
I mean really, requiring a once a day log on? Even Steam lets you do that once a month. From a consumer opinion, Microsoft's bid for my money wasn't even in the same continent as Steam's, much less Nintendo's and Sony's.
