The console should be irrelevant. It's not like the current makers are making trillions off the hardware by the time development and promotion are done. The money is, was and will continue to always be in the software.
Getting the makers to give up their shot at that software money is what is going to be the problem.
Open source console from google? Just a suggestion or something?
