I know plenty of females who love the series the way it is. The only people who seem to complain are extreme feminist who rarely play video games and don't actually care about the series and never will regardless of where it goes. They simply love to open their mouths and attempt to change something they have no real interest in. Look at Anita. She doesn't care about the industry one bit and opens her mouth about games she never actually played.
