Sony probably knew they couldnt get a proper next gen GT game out for launch, so why not at least launch a new IP and see how it does. I suspect in about 2-3 years we'll get a proper next gen GT.

One of the biggest problems Sony has with DriveClub right now, is that people will not pre-order it because people are unsure what they are getting from PS+. So i've gone with BFlag, Killzone, Battlefield4 and WatchDogs right now, but why put £40+ down on Driveclub when i already have PS+ and will get some kind of DClub version with that.

It may affect sales - certainly in the short term for the game.

unless sony puts it on big letters or the retailers make them aware of it (which I highly doubt). The casual won't know about that.
