I think when people say "Wii U has no games" they're saying "Wii U has no exclusives." I mean it only really had 3 AAA ones at launch, but when you look at it, the launch was far from dry.

We got AC3, Darksiders 2, Black Ops 2, Mass Effect 3, Arkham City, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed, Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper, so on and so fourth.

Counting all the releases that have already come out this year, like Resident Evil, NFS: Most Wanted U, Injustice, Lego Batman 2, Lego City Undercover, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Game and Wario, Sniper Elite V2 (call it gimped or not, it's still a game.) and more.

So when you think about it, the Wii U "has no games" argument makes no sense, as it already has well over 50 games. The argument should be "the Wii U has no games I'm interested in and games I can get on my other consoles" not something as general as "the Wii U has no games" because that would be implying that the system has 0 games.

You know something funny though? Much like the Wii U, the PS4 only has 3 major exclusives at launch (Knack, DriveClub, and Killzone.) and nobody is saying a single thing about the PS4 having no games. So what gives? The argument makes no sense.
