That comment was just illogical. SInce they're going to make FFXVI eventually which would have been FFXV. They're just separating it from the FFXIII brand.

There wasn't a damn thing "illogical" about it. Nomura and his fancy team too so damn long making Versus, that they just decided to call it "FFXV", which, I'm sorry, is cheating. Just abou the same as giving the shitty online games they make numbered titles. And trust me, you won't be seeing a "FFXVI" for quite some time. The truth is, they need to just put the franchise to bed for a good decade or so. It's been pretty obvious for awhile now that they don't really "have it" anymore. Let Square-Enix focus on smaller, much CHEAPER projects. They were very good at coming up with solid new IPs and semi-fresh ideas outside of the "Final Fantasy" banner back in the SNES and PS1 eras. They could easily do that again, and probably be a more solvant company doing so. Then bring FF back many years down the road, actually do it WELL, and it'll get a huge amount of hype for it's return. The way they're doing it now, not only isn't good, it's also not sustainable, they've said as much themselves.
