where have you seen that they want players to get out of PS3/360 at launch.... actually having 70 million sales in the couple month around launch is probably way less profitable than selling those slowely over several years....

by next year their profit margin will probably be bigger already, economy of scale will start to kick in later furthering profit margin etc....

their is absolutely no logic into releasing an Halo 5 that close from the last one and at launch, it'd be like using your best special weapons on round one of a tower defence game.... it's a waste of ammo.... establish your brand with the likes of us, then start pushing big blockbuster and exclusive at a constent pace with different target audiences while shrinking your price along the line...

For why they need Halo 5 so soon, it simply because they are competing head to head against PS4 with $100 higher price point and a weaker console in favor Kinect, which Hardcore/Mainstream gamers simply don't want. Add to that Hardcore gamer distrust over their recent policies choices and one largest gaming market which will be doomed from the start in Japan. They could release Halo 5 a few years down the line to find it already too late and PS4 has built such a massive lead over X1 which will be near impossible to overcome.

Just saying it isn't Halo 5, its like Halo Reach; a full halo title but with Master Chief as the main character. Halo 5 will be tucked away for a later year.

"weaker" console? Can people stop saying that because clearly power has little to do with "winning". DS, 3dS, PS2, and Wii didn't get the memo. Hardcore gamer distrust is evaporating by the week with MS's turnaround. Japan is lost from the start and yet 360 turned out ok.

Don't know why you are dumping all this negativity in a X1 games thread......we are full aware that Europe and Japan will be more attracted to the price and PS products in general.

Even Halo Spin-off closer to launch would be a massive help to X1.

Of the three of four weaker console mentioned were made by Nintendo. Those three Nintendo console weren’t focused on the same market that PS3/360 were aimed at where power was everything. So a weaker console argument is irrelevant on them as it was completely different aimed market. PS2 came off the massive success of the PS1 and was the most power console when it was first released. It already had such big following and built such a lead that Gamecube/Xbox didn’t stand a chance releasing a year or so afterward.

I didn't intend to flood the thread as you put it with negativity, but when people questioned my original concerns that the release day one line up was not that great as too many of big titles were coming out on previous generation of consoles. People questioned me about it so just replied back with my honest thoughts about the issue. It would be a bit pathetic just having a thread with no balance of different opinions.
