Its an Ideal to show how something can be done not something that will be done. It's directed to show different features but not complete features. These are specific ideals the developers thought of and made into a proof of concept, that does not mean this is the totallity of how this tech can be applied or what would make actual commercial features if this get released. As for the statement that if a game i doing body tracking you cannot use this feature, well duh. What if you can do one or the other and the person using the device get to choose which feature he feels important or fun. In other words this is just another extension of your gaming experience, not a replacement. On the subject of just using the projector without the TV, the key here is that you do not get the extension of your peripheral vision, you just get a bigger display. The tech is designed to extend your peripheral vision of the environment contained within the game. this does not work if you just project the game bigger on the wall. This is the reason why some people miss certain concepts because they do not think about what the presentation is trying to present. |
Then he's right on his opinion, like many will have. That said, it's good to see them show this, like you say as proof. I think the idea of body tracking is a conflict of abilities, if a game requires Kinect tracking you can't use the Illumiroon feature. I liked the presentation even if I didn't think many of the features were good. Augmented reality part was fantasic, I've seen it done on TV on a larger scale but in this smaller setting it seems to fit, especially as it maps the surroundings.
On the projector, I was just wondering if it could be used as one, I don't know, so I asked. You have answered. The idea that the Kinect could be used as a replacement for a TV is one I like, especially as projectors aren't exactly cheap, even if it's not 1080p glorious HD. I could buy a a Xbone and have it away from the main TV without having to buy another TV for it to work on.
