Just beause they are similar, doesn't mean it is the same. it's not. Firstm as everyone has said, there was a 12-18 month gapo with no competition. You also forget Nintendo and Microsoft both sucked up the place. They're launches and life were just a beat down and numerous mistakes. The Wii and 360 have fixed it, and taken advantage of what Sony did right.
I doubt a price drop this year(they still lose money). Even if it happens, the core system will be $500. They also need a Blu-Ray killer app. SpiderMan 3may be that, but with DVDs doing as well as they are it may not be a possibleily yet. The system is just too ahead of it's time, and Sony can't do anything right any more.
