Having unauthorised access to a computer system (where "unauthorised" is left extremely vague) is a criminal offence in Australia.

Does having access to a devkit through fraud constitute unauthorized access?  I can sort of see it but on the other  hand, no.  And there wouldn't seem to be a need to confiscate his computer to investigate it.  Again, Microsoft indicated that they never contacted the authorities.  Everything they did was internal or through a third-party investigator.  There's been no word from either Activision-Blizzard or Epic as to whether or not they've contacted the authorities. 

So this has to be from one of his hacking attempts.
