There's only so much that can go wrong with cross-breeding seeds, but because now we can do it in labs and add any manmade chemicals in it. It can be more dangerous. And because a giant corporation is doing it, i can't even trust GM foods. They cut corners where ever they can, including how safe the food may be. They don't care as long as they make their profit and sales targets. I may be abit cautious on these GM foods and new technology, but i would rather keep to what's tried and tested when it comes to food. A lot of it is fine as it is. |
So your arguement is that because it's a big corporation they're guilty until they are proven guilty and no amount of testing (Of which there is a LOT) that proves it's safe will ever convince you.
You are exactly what's wrong with the aforementioned health movement, and why we will never be as healthy as we could be.
If you weren't so focused on parnoid accusations where there is no proof, researchers and companies would be much more willing to not only genetically alter food so it's easier to grow (which is what GMOs do, make it so that poor areas can grow foods without risk of losing their homes and starving nations)
but also so that it produces far more nutriets then it normally does.
If everyone switched to purely organic methods of farming, we'd have food shortages, and certain areas could never have locally grown foods due to inhospitable climates... and we would do this because despite all the studies and tests showing everything is ok.... you don't trust big companies?
Europe has a GMO ban for one reason... and it's that the big countries that can grow crops, don't want the smaller countries with inhospitable climates and poor soil to be able to compete in the little free trade protectionism zone known as the EU. (well and that some of the profits would find it's way to the US, since the US leads the field.)
