Today I probably would've thought it was a lame game after-all, but the one cancelled game that stands out, is actually 'Simsville'.

Yes, there's more I thought were too bad they were cancelled, but I remember being genuinely bummed when they cancelled this game even if it's a long time ago (2001, looked it up and was surprised). It was supposed to be a cross between SimCity, and The Sims. I think it was cancelled in favor of either SimCity 4 or The Sims 2.

Shamefully I can say that I had never heard of this game before now.  I just looked it up and indeed, it sounds like a very cool idea!  Thanks for posting; I find it really interesting reading about these sorts of things.  At least some of the ideas got picked up by Sims 2 & SimCity 4 like you say.

Your welcome!

Yeah in hindsight it was probably for the best they cancelled it, it would've been an irrelevant game when The Sims 2 had the neighbourhood ideas and SimCity 4 got the micromanagement and the 'MySims' ideas. I remember I was anticipating it because this was a more complicated spiritual successor to another, older 'Sim' game I liked. That game was called 'SimTown'. It was a extremely simple game, basically SimCity for toddlers.

They had a million 'Sim' games back then, you name it and there was a Sim__ game.
