Why dissappointment? Sony did not say that we're reserving upto 3.5GB of RAM for OS, but they were just stating them to use only upto 5.5GB since their OS and everything else isn't matured(that article also mentioned this) yet so they are playing it safe since no game needs 7GB RAM right now so they can give access to up to 7GB later after year or two when everything gets matured in OS/Gaikai/Apps etc., Unlike Microsoft they must need 3GB Ram for three OS's and TV stuff which is not possible to release in future.

Oh I know and I understand the amount can/will likely be reduced. If some of the gaf insiders are correct then the ps4 OS is as of now using 1.5GB and they are reserving an extra 1GB for other features if necessary. Then there is another 1GB reserved for devs if they need it for games. So devs have access to 5.5GB if they need it. That's is perfectly fine for games for the next 4-5 years easily and then sony will reduce the OS footprint if devs need more. Plus since 7GB was never confirmed I guess it can't be disappointing because it's still loads more than current gen. So diappointing is probably not the right word.
