Listening to him talk abut it in the videos where he demonstrates it, it seems it would be a pedophiles dream to have that type of relationship with a child. Listening to him I kept asking myself, "Why would any sane adult want to 'play' this?"

So, ignoring the question completely. Sure.
Now, again, why would anyone want to play this? Why would you invest your emotional time and resources into something that can't actually share them with you. It can only do what it is programmed to do. The idea of Milo wasn't a game, it was meant that you would develop a true emotional connection as you interacted with Milo.
To me, that just seems unhealthy.

It needed a twist. Where the very nature of the game isn't as simple as it seems. What are you? And why are you trying to get to know this child? What's the point?
1) What if the 'game' is something like the movie 'The Cell' where Milo is actually the child avatar for a person that knows a secret that you're have to find out by building a relationship with him and this is one of many 'personalities' you interact with before you get what you need to prevent some catastrophe?
2) Milo is like the kid from the episode of The Twilight Zone called "It's A Good Life" and is a threat to the world unless we can get to know him, befriend him and help him to understand that with great power comes great responsibility.
3) What if Milo could be some Skynet like computer that wants to destroy all humanity and our efforts to reach out to him/it and show the our value as a species will decide the fate of all?
