There are parts of the UK that aren't so bad.  And honestly, as an American, I see opportunities in the UK that don't exist here.

I'm a nice part (rural Lincolnshire) and it's still bad. I would go back to Texas if I had the chance.

Damn Rural Lincolnshire. I don't see what's wrong with it really. Easy access to the M1 for travel to the rest of the country, you're never far from a river, a wildlife park or the coast, and whilst there's not the biggest hubs for shopping, there's still a fair few good places within reach (I'm thinking Scunthorpe, Gainsborough, Lincoln etc.)

Then again, I never lived in America, so I wouldn't know what it was like.

Depending on where you live, you can spit in any one direction and hit a single store an acre in size.  Actually, a Wal-Mart is 2 acres, and were not even talking the car park.  A big box retailer is an impressive show of American capitalism.
